December, 1962
The School Corporation Shotoku Gakuen was founded.
April, 1972
Shotoku Gakuen Gifu Kyoiku University was established.
Faculty of Education with Primary Education Course and Secondary Education Course (Japanese Language Major and Math Major) was established.
Susumu Sakamoto was inaugurated as the first president.
Shotoku Gakuen Gifu Kyoiku University Affiliated Elementary and Junior High School were established.
October, 1972
Shotoku Gakuen celebrated its 10th anniversary.
August, 1975
Shigeki Muramatsu was inaugurated as the second president.
March, 1976
Social Studies Major and Music Major were added to Secondary Education Course.
April, 1976
Shotoku Gakuen Gifu Kyoiku University Affiliated High School was established.
October, 1978
Shotoku Gakuen celebrated its 15th anniversary.
April, 1982
Masami Naganuma was inaugurated as the third president.
October, 1983
Shotoku Gakuen celebrated its 20th anniversary.
April, 1985
Shotoku Gakuen implemented the coeducational system.
Shotoku Gakuen Gifu Kyoiku University Affiliated Kindergarten was established.

Hiroshi Hirose was inaugurated as the fourth president.
September, 1986
Nagashige Oda was inaugurated as the acting president.
February, 1987
Akira Okayama was inaugurated as the acting president.
April, 1987
Sadao Hashizume was inaugurated as the fifth president.
April, 1990
Faculty of Foreign Languages (English Department, Chinese Department, Japanese Department) was established.
July, 1990
Shotoku Gakuen signed a “General Agreement” with Lakehead University (Canada).
April,1993
Hisao Kamidera was inaugurated as the sixth president.
October,1993
Shotoku Gakuen celebrated its 30th anniversary.
October,1996
Shotoku Gakuen signed a "General Agreement" with Minzu University of China.
April, 1998
The school name changed to Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University.
Along with this change, the names of the high school, junior high school, elementary school, and kindergarten also changed.
Graduate School of International Cultural Studies (International Education and Culture Major, International and Regional Culture Major) was established.
Faculty of Economics and Information (Economics and Information Department) was established.
Faculty of Education, Faculty of Foreign Languages, and affiliated schools were relocated to Hashima campus, while Faculty of Economics and Information and Gifu Shotoku Gakuen Junior College were relocated to Gifu campus.
April, 1999
Tensei Kitabatake was inaugurated as the seventh president.
October, 1999
Shotoku Gakuen signed a "General Agreement" with Dongguk University (South Korea).
March, 2000
Shotoku Gakuen signed a "General Agreement" with Dunedin College of Education (New Zealand).
May, 2000
Shotoku signed a "General Agreement" with Marshall University (USA).
August, 2000
Gifu Shotoku Gakuen University Affiliated Kindergarten moved to Hashima campus.
January, 2001
Shotoku Gakuen signed a "General Agreement" with Dalian University of Foreign Languages (China).
March, 2001
The school song was written.
April, 2002
Psychology Department was added to Faculty of Education.
The departments in Faculty of Foreign Languages were reorganized. (English Department, Chinese Department, and Japanese Department were united to the Department of Foreign Languages.)
The night course for Faculty of Economics and Information stopped recruiting students.
Graduate School of Economics and Information Studies (Economic Information Major) was established.
October, 2003
Shotoku Gakuen celebrated its 40th anniversary.
April, 2004
Ph.D. program in Graduate School of Economics and Information Studies started.
April, 2005
Masuo Kuchiba was inaugurated as the eighth president.
April, 2007
Primary Education Course in Faculty of Education increased its recruitment capacity, and the nursery teacher training facility was established.
School Psychology Course in Faculty of Education was established. (School Psychology Department stopped recruiting students.)
April, 2009
Primary Education Course and Secondary Education Course were reorganized, School Education Course (Japanese, Social Studies, Math, Science, Music, Physical Education, English, and Childcare) was established.
April, 2011
Noriyuki Fujii was inaugurated as the ninth president.
October, 2013
Shotoku Gakuen celebrated its 50th anniversary.
April, 2014
School Psychology Course in Faculty of Education stopped recruiting students.
April, 2015
Special Education Course and School Psychology Course were added to Faculty of Education.
Faculty of Nursing (Nursing Department) was established.
